Tonight I am to attend and perform at a poetry reading. It’s to my understanding that the event still exists, even though the website makes no mention of it. So I’ve narrowed down two distinctive possibilities:

Distinctive Scientific Possibility A) The editor of the website simply forgot to post the event for tonight, therefore the event is still on.

Or…

Distinctive Scientific Possiblity B) The editor was just about to post the event when a small cargo plane jam packed with horribly mutated gerbils and radioactive gerbil feed crash-landed in his backyard swimming pool, soaking the corrosive juices from the feed into the horribly mutated gerbils and transforming them into SUPER ULTRA RADIOSONIC FIREBREATHING END-ALL FUCK-ALL SUPER SUPER SEXY GERBILS FROM WHEREVER THE HELL THE PLANE CAME FROM. The editor, knowing that he alone was the Chosen One inscribed of archaic tomes of times past, brandished an 1876 Remington blunderbuss and leaped from his bedroom window and smack dab in the middle of the ferociously furry swarm of chattering monstrosities, blasting away fragments of skull and gray brain matter into oblivion. Currently, he is still battling the beasts, leaving his work unattended while he salvages humanity from the cuddly overlords that seek to dominate it.

I think we all know which of these theories seem more plausible, yes?
